Starting in Version 14.0, you can create custom fields for both clients and projects.
Creating the custom fields for projects and clients works the same way. To start adding custom fields you use the following menus:
For Projects, go to Administration -> Projects -> Custom Fields
For Clients, go to Administration -> Clients-> Custom Fields
Once you are there, the process for adding fields is the same:
- Enter the field name
- Select the field type
- Select Client Access preference
- Select if the field is Mandatory - this will require the user to provide a value before they can save the form.
- Click "Add Field"
- Once you are done adding fields, click "Save Form" - Note: if you do not click save form, the fields you added will not be saved.
Custom Field Types:
Custom field type determines the type of validation that will be enforced on the field. For example, if you select a field type of "Email" the user will be required to enter a valid email address. The following is a list of field types that are available:
- Textbox
- Checkbox
- Date
- Email
- Number
- Currency
- URL
Client Access:
Client Access indicates what type of access you would like to give to a client:
View Only: View only fields can be viewed by the client, but cannot be updated.
Update: This will allow the client to update the field.
Hide: This will hide the field entirely from the client.
Once the form is saved, the fields will show up under the "Additional Info" Tab on projects or clients.
